FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DO I BRING/WEAR TO CLASS?
Wear something comfortable that makes you feel great and gives you plenty of freedom to move and keep in mind, you might work up a bit of a sweat!
For shoes, you do not need dance shoes to get started. Choose something comfortable and secure that allows you to turn easily on the dance floor. Shoes with a smooth or harder sole are ideal, while grippy running shoes and trainers can make turns a little more difficult.
Ladies are welcome to wear dance heels if you prefer (just avoid stilettos).
Looking for a dance shoe? We love Fuego dance sneakers because they have the comfort and look of a sneaker but are specifically designed to make dancing and turning easier. They're a great option for both leads and follows.

And don't forget your water bottle — then just come ready to learn, dance and have fun!
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Expect a fun, welcoming and social environment where you'll learn how to actually dance salsa with a partner — not just memorize steps!
We'll work on Salsa On2 timing, lead-and-follow technique, turns, partnerwork combinations, musicality and connection, with plenty of time to practice what you're learning.
Partners rotate throughout class, giving you the opportunity to dance with different people and develop stronger social dancing skills.
And there's a little bonus! After our final class, you'll get an extra 1-hour Salsa Práctica where you can dance with your classmates and instructor, practice what you've learned, ask for feedback if you'd like, and get a relaxed taste of what it's like to attend a real salsa social.
Whether you're completely new to salsa or already have some On1 experience, we'll start with the foundations and help you build your confidence, one dance at a time.
DO I NEED TO BRING A PARTNER?
Nope! All our classes are open to solo registrations. We rotate partners throughout, so you'll get a well-rounded experience regardless of who you come with. That being said, couples are absolutely welcome!
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT TO ONE OF THE CLASSES?
If you know you won't be attending one of the 4 weeks of the session, we offer a make-up class in a future session, as long as there is availability in the chosen class and we receive a 24 hour notice. Email suzevernonsalsa@gmail.com to let us know you'll be missing class.
I'V NEVER DANCED SALSA BEFORE. CAN I SIGN UP FOR SESSION 2 IF I MISS SESSION 1?
Absolutely! Each Beginner Salsa Social session is designed as a different 4-week module, so you can start with Session 1, 2 or 3 — no previous salsa experience required.
Each module explores different partnerwork and skills, and we always review the Salsa On2 basic and foundations at the beginning of a new session, so complete beginners can jump right in.
For the best learning experience, we recommend completing all three modules when you can. Twelve consecutive weeks gives you more time to build confidence, strengthen your partnerwork fundamentals and develop a great toolkit of salsa moves you can actually use on the dance floor.

SALSA SOCIAL
Level: Beginner | Salsa On2 (Mambo)
New to salsa? Start here. Already know some Salsa On1? This is your chance to discover a new way to dance it.
Salsa Social is a welcoming beginner partnerwork class for both leads and follows. No previous dance experience is needed — we'll build everything from the ground up.
In this four-week session, we'll be learning Salsa On2, also known as Mambo timing. You'll learn the basic timing and foundations, fun partnerwork patterns, and how to create a comfortable connection with your partner so salsa starts to feel less like memorizing steps and more like dancing together.
Already dance a little Salsa On1?
You're in the right place too! The steps and concepts may feel familiar, but we'll explore them through On2 timing. It's a great opportunity to add another dimension to your dancing and become a more versatile salsa dancer. You do NOT need previous On2 experience to join.
Whether you're starting salsa for the very first time or expanding on what you already know, we'll learn together and build from the foundations.
Come solo or with a partner. We rotate partners throughout class, so no partner is required to register.
Ready to join? If you've never danced salsa before, or you've previously taken a beginner Salsa On1 or partnerwork class with us or elsewhere, you're at the right level.
This is a progressive four-week program, so drop-ins are not offered at this time.
BONUS: Salsa Práctica! Your final class includes an extra 1-hour práctica where you can dance with your classmates and instructor, practice your new moves, ask for feedback, and experience what a salsa social feels like — in a relaxed and supportive environment.
